Five stars doesn't feel like enough for the City Hall Grand Hotel in Williamsport. From the moment you step through the doors, you're transported. This isn't just a hotel — it's a living piece of history. The building itself is a beautifully repurposed old city hall, and what makes it so special is the clear reverence the team has for the character of the original structure. Every architectural detail, every hallway, every turn feels intentional — like someone loved this building long before they ever imagined guests would sleep here, and that love is woven into every decision they've made. The rooms are where the magic really deepens. Each one is uniquely designed with its own theme and personality. Mine had this wonderful blend of vintage charm and modern comfort — the kind of space that makes you slow down, look around, and appreciate the thought behind it all. The design work throughout the entire hotel carries a whimsical, cross-thematic quality that keeps surprising you. You'll find yourself wandering the halls just to take it all in. And then there's the staff. I don't use the word "outstanding" lightly, but the communication from this team was beyond that. Responsive, warm, genuinely attentive — they've figured out how to use modern technology to streamline the experience without ever losing that deeply personal, old-school hospitality that so many places have forgotten. It's a rare combination, and they've nailed it. I didn't get a chance to dine at The Newsroom Grill & Spirits during my stay, but everything I've heard suggests it matches the caliber of the hotel itself — and that's a high bar. Whether you're in town for the Little League World Series, traveling for business, or just looking for something truly different, this is the place. The City Hall Grand Hotel is a reminder of what hospitality can and should feel like — thoughtful, personal, and rooted in a genuine respect for history and the people who walk through the door. I cannot recommend it enough.

We stayed 3 nights at The Grand Hotel. I grew up in Williamsport and have always been proud of its past. The history braided into each room and the decor was amazing! This hotel provides the combination of history with modern convenience. The attention to detail was above and beyond. They thought of everything down to a white noise machine. There’s a beautiful lobby where we were able to enjoy time with our family. The location could not be better. It was so convenient walking to shops and restaurants during our stay. The hotel staff was friendly and responsive to our every need and their restaurant recommendation was perfect! We will definitely stay there again.

We stayed in the Lumber room this past weekend for my husband’s birthday and as a belated Valentine’s getaway. The room was huge and beautiful. I wasn’t expecting such a large sitting area. There is a nice sized refrigerator, and although there isn’t a microwave in the room, there is one in the shared sitting area on the floor. If you plan to reheat leftovers or anything, bring some plastic utensils. We were lucky, and there were some in the sitting area, but it’s limited. Plenty of Togo cups if you make a cup of coffee, which was nice. Shower had decent pressure. Bed was very comfy. I loved being able to easily open and close the covers on the windows for privacy and light. Only thing I would maybe suggest would be to add an actual door on the bathroom. The bathroom is located in the same area as the bedroom and there is just a curtain. Overall wonderful stay and would definitely come back!

What an interesting place this old stone building has become. There are so many themed rooms to choose from. I stayed in the Lumber Room, and I was happy to see the bathroom now has a door, thank you! Even though the hotel is mostly staff-less, they are only a call or text away and respond quickly. I didn’t end up needing anything during my stay, but they were very accommodating with my check-in and check-out times. The price is affordable and well worth it if you enjoy architecture and historic buildings. Just keep in mind you are right downtown, so you’ll hear normal city sounds like traffic and church bells. Fantastic stay overall. Parking was easy and there are plenty of great local places for dinner within walking distance. This place is a photographer’s playground. I would definitely stay here again if I’m ever in the area.

If you love history and architecture, this is the place for you! The building is beautiful, the modern decor compliments it well. Aesthetically, this place is top notch! Our only complaint wast that The Twain room has NO DOOR ON THE BATHROOM! So make sure whoever you are traveling with is someone you are very comfortable with. The toilet is behind a wall but there is no actual door to close.

We loved everything about our stay. Each room in this historic former city hall is unique and detailed down to the hickory flooring, repurposed vaults and lounge areas. Everywhere you look there’s another lovingly restored historic photo. In our room, we especially liked the shower, lighting fixtures, the bay windows, and vaulted ceiling. From outside, the building is breathtaking. If you have the opportunity to meet Sandy, the co-owner, to get the back story of the renovations, that alone is worth the trip!

We had an unscheduled gathering of family for a funeral in the area. The folks at City Hall worked extra hard to find us rooms that would be suitable for each family size. They also left us a sympathy card in our room, offering their condolences for our loss. It is a first class operation but with a very personal touch. Highly recommend them.
